Seldom do I arrive at a photoshoot knowing little about the Lodge and work required. I received an email request from Ivan, asking for photos and video of his Lodge. Armed little info after several emails, a week later we were off (I was going to do the photography and I have hired Nathan Pellow-Jarman to shoot the video at the same time). The Maputaland coastal forest mosaic occupies the humid coastal strip along the Indian Ocean, situated in northern KZN, stretching up to the Mozambique border. An area rich in plant species, and with the coastal lakes included, provides perfect habitat for more than 470 bird species. The coastline is particularly untouched, provided unspoilt beaches with little other life around other than the few locals that come down to the sea for their daily fishing. Rocktail beach Camp is situated within the confines of the Coastal Forest Reserve, tucked away under the canopy of the forest, within a short walk of the beach.

I managed to catch up with Jenna and Vanda this week while on one of their training sessions. Although this crew has not really proven themselves, they each have impressive records to back themselves for a good Dusi. Jenna has show impressive form lately, not only on the rivers, but in the sea as well. Jenna has managed a number of wins this season on the rivers, partnering with Abby Sohms. Vanda Kiszli, from Hungary, is no stranger to marathon paddling, finishing an impressive 6th place at the ICF World Championships Marathon Gyor. Pairing these two impressive paddlers is going
