I was greeted by Jarvis at the airport, picking me up to take me to Kafue National Park which was a 4hr drive from Lusaka. Jarvis escorted me to my, by coincidence, private shuttle to the Reserve. Carefully weaving his way through the traffic in Lusaka, it was clear that he knew this route well, taking the back roads to try miss the traffic which was backed up due to ongoing roadworks (like in the rest of Africa, "ongoing" actually means perpetual, never ends). The Zambezi has this real mysticism about it! Even the Tonga people created Nyaminyami (Zambezi River God) or Zambezi Snake spirit, due to their feeling of sustenance which they feel the river provides. So, for me, it is always exciting to visit this river. My previous visit took me to the Victoria Falls area where I even got to paddle down the river. Lesotho is a country which I have had little chance in exploring. Hence when I got the opportunity to go shoot the Semonkong Lodge, as well as all the activities, I grabbed at it with both hands. As I know little about the area, other than Lesotho has rather high mountains, I was amazed to see the beauty when I arrived. An incredible place, with some much character in the surrounding hills, not to mention the Gorge. The Maletsunyane Gorge is just an amazing sight to behold, never mind the waterfalls therein.
