Shepherd’s Tree Lodge – Pilanesberg National Park
Skirting mourned the southern section of the Pilanesberg National Park, one passes the famous Sun City on your way to the Western section of the Reserve where one finds Shepherd’s Tree Game Lodge tucked away in it’s own “exclusive use” concession, where no other game drives are allowed to traverse. One thing is guaranteed, peace and tranquility!
One thing is noticeable on arrival – the modern design. Tucked away on the side of a hill, the Lodge blends in perfect with the surrounding landscape, while at the same time offering panoramic views of the valley below.
The Lodge itself is spread out over a long distance, following the contour of the mountain it is situated on. Each room is tucked away in the natural vegetation, offering total seclusion from the other rooms around you. The rooms are modern, with large king size beds facing out with large sliding doors providing the view you hoped for. The bathrooms are spacious, offering both a large bath and outdoor shower. The luxury suite is situated at the very end of the path, with a magnificent view down the valley. Boasting several rooms, with a central TV lounge leading out onto a verandah with small splash pool. It even has its own bona for private dinners under the stars.
The central areas are large and spacious. A large pool is located close to the bar, offering a perfect place to relax and soak up the African sun while waiting for you next adventure out into the bush.
Meals are either offered in the large central dining area which is very opulently decorated. If the weather allows, dinner is served under the African skies, offering the experience to take in the incredible milky way while diving on fine fair, as well as taking in the sounds of the bush. Dinner in the boma offers a vast variety of food from barbecued meat, to curry’s and roasted chicken – something for all tastes.
Activities include drives into the Pilanesberg National Park – searching for those elusive cats. This is a big 5 Reserve which offers incredible game viewing, and enjoying it from an open vehicle makes it all that more exciting.
